Austin discovered Dehnhart was wanted in Tennessee after checking his liscense plate on the deputy's on-board computer. According to the police report, after making the traffic stop, Austin observed a pipe used for smoking marijuana in plain view in Dehnhart's car.

Pulaski County Deputy Seth Barton was following up on a criminal complaint at the residence of Delbert Bain at 5588N U.S. 35. Upon further Investigation Barton obtained a search warrant for the residence where the marijuana and cash were later discovered.
